The Ten Commandments
(Exo. 20: 3-17)
- 1 You shall have no other gods before me.
- 2 You shall not make unto yourself any graven image.
- 3 You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
- 4 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
- 5 Honor your father and your mother.
- 6 You shall not kill.
- 7 You shall not commit adultery.
- 8 You shall not steal.
- 9 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
- 10 You shall not covet your neighbor’s properties.
- Confessions on the Ten Commandments
- 3 I have no other gods before you.
- 4 I don’t make for myself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
- 5 I don’t bow the knee except onto you alone whom I worship; for you, the LORD my God, are a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate you,
- 6 but showing love to a thousand (generations) of those who love you and keep your commandments.
- 7 I don’t misuse the name of the LORD my God, for you the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses your name.
- 12 I honor my father and my mother; therefore, I shall live long in the land of the Living.
- 13 I don’t murder.
- 14 I don’t commit adultery.
- 15 I don’t steal.
- 16 I don’t give false testimony against my neighbor.17 I don’t covet my neighbor’s house. I don’t covet my neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to my neighbor
