The Armor Of God
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.
13 Therefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thus with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Eph. 6: 10-18)
Perhaps taking cue from the Roman Soldier’s armor outfit, Paul described to us “the whole armor of God”, six in all: truth, righteousness, the gospel of Christ, faith, salvation, the word of God; plus our strategy: prayer and watchfulness. He described truth as a belt, it holds the waist; righteousness as breastplate, it protects the heart; the gospel of Christ as shoes or vehicle, it’s our driving force; faith as shield, it protects us from satanic arrows; salvation as helmet, it protects our head; and the word of God as the sword of the Spirit, it’s our only weapon of assault.
Every child of God must be savvy in all those eight weapons of our warfare; the question is how are you doing on each one? Are you a lover of truth? Do you joke with righteousness? Can your faith stand the fiery arrows of modern Godless society? Is the gospel of Christ your driving force and your reason for living? How genuine is your salvation or are you a believer riddled with unbelievers’ problems? How vast are you in the word of God, your only offensive weapon?
Well, notice that these weapons work through prayer and watchfulness. A “prayerless” and “watchless” Christian would still go down despite the full armor; that is the essence of this confessional prayer Bible. Please, watch how you are doing on each of these armor and pray earnestly. Develop a confession on each of them using a Bible concordance and the confessions written in this Bible.
