The Anointing For The Fear Of God
“1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:” (Isa. 11: 1-3).
Verse 1 above refers to our Lord Jesus Christ who had the Spirit of God without measure to do anything (John 3: 34). From Isaiah’s prophecy about Him (vs 2-3), we know all the categories of God’s anointing there are: a.) the spirit of wisdom and understanding; b.) the spirit of counsel and might; c.) the spirit of knowledge, d.) the spirit of the fear of the Lord.
I believe that the best part of God’s anointing is the anointing of the fear of God; and it is the one we have in the least today. Of course, the spirit of might raised Lazarus from the dead but he surely died again, finally. The fear of God is not a negative fear as it protects rather than destroys; negative fear has torment but positive fear is both protective and blissful. It is the fear of God that keeps men from sin and trouble; and there is nothing better than it in a person’s life because it guides us to heaven.
I have not met someone that fears the Lord that also doesn’t love Him; because the true fear of the Lord opens to us the floodgate of His grace and tender mercies; and opens us to an ever increasing thirst to please God willingly. Why do we have prejudice today in Christendom? Why are our families breaking down and our children revolting? Why is immorality in vogue? Why are we so unfaithful with money and loving it? Why do we hardly talk about the second coming of Christ but always talk about material things from our pulpits? We are paying the price for a general lack of the fear of God.
Surely, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and the love of God is the height of it. May we be protected by the fear of God; and may we enjoy the benefits of His love. It is up to you friend, to use the confession facilities in this Bible to prophesy both the fear and love of the Lord into your life. We need the fear of the Lord to enjoy the love of God.
