3–10 Vengeance belongs to God; I shall not take it to my hand. I will not play the Lord’s role for Him; I will lay hand on no child of God whatever the provocation. I am not callous or unkind to anybody. I don’t repay people their evil and wrong- doings; I trust God to do what is right to all who hurt me. I don’t avenge myself of any evil, lest the Lord feel I have over- done it and turn His anger toward me.
11 I will not lose self-control to anger; I will not pursue my brother or sister with a sword or stifle compassion. My anger will neither rage continually nor my fury flame unchecked. I shall not lose temper like people without God.
13 I will destroy no one to enlarge my horizon; I shall not kill to rise up, my promo- tion comes from the Lord alone…
