Timothy Chapter 6 (Part)
–2 The name of God and the teaching of His word are my greatest concern; they will not be slandered on account of me. I will honor and respect my superiors to prove right the mercies of God on my life.
I neither teach false doctrines nor disa- gree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching;
I am not a conceited and ignorant wind- bag. I have no unhealthy desire to quib- ble over the meaning of words; I am not one to infect the air with germs of envy, controversy, bad-mouthing, suspicious rumors.
I am not a troublesome fellow causing frictions in the house of God; my mind is not corrupt and I am not robbed of the truth. Therefore, I don’t think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
But godliness with contentment is great gain for me.
For I brought nothing into the world, and I can take nothing out of it.
But if I have food and clothing, I will be content with that.
I will not plunge into ruin or destruction; I will not share the problems of those who must get rich at all cost — falling into temptations and snares; stumbling into many foolish and hurtful lusts.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But I am a man/woman of God; therefore, I flee from all this, and pursue right- eousness, godliness, faith, love, endur- ance, and gentleness.
I fight the good fight of the faith. I take hold of the eternal life to which I am called when I made my good confession in the presence of many witnesses…
