Great love the Father has lavished on me, that I should be called a child of God! And that is what I am! The reason the world does not know me is that it did not know Him.
Now I am a child of God, and what I will be has not yet been made known. But I know that when He appears, I shall be like Him, for I shall see him as He is.
I have this hope in me and, therefore, purify myself, just as He is pure.
Whosoever sins breaks the law; in deed, sin is lawlessness.
But I know that He came to take away my sins and make me holy. And in Him is no sin.
I don’t keep on sinning because I live in Him. I don’t continue to sin because I have both seen Him and known Him.
No one leads me astray. Because I do what is right; I am righteous, just as He is righteous.
I am of God and don’t do what is sinful. It is the devil that has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
It is impossible for me to continue to sin as I am born of God, because God’s seed remains in me; I cannot go on sinning, because I have been born of God.
This is how it is known that I am a child of God: I do what is right and love my brother.
I love my fellow Christians.
I am not like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous.
I am not surprised if the world hates me.
I know that I have passed from death to life, because I love my brothers. I remain in God’s kind of life because I love.
I am not a murderer, so I love my brother; and I know that no murderer has eternal life in Him.
