Zephaniah Chapter 1
1 The word of the Lord comes to me — from father to son (daughter).
5 I don’t bow the knee except onto God; it is beneath me to appease the devil or bow to him.
6 I will not and cannot turn back from fol- lowing the Lord; I seek Him and enquire of Him alone.
7 The glorious day of the Christ’s return is at hand; I am prepared, prayerfully and eagerly waiting. I am waiting for glory while sinners are waiting for the awesome day of the Lord’s judgment;
8 when the nobles and elites, the arrogant and scoffers will be punished along with those who throw away their godly heritage.
9 They will be punished- all those that celebrate rebellion, false religion, per- versity, violence, injustice, the god of money, immorality, and self-worship; but I shall be transformed into blissful immortality.
12 I am not complacent or sitting it out; I am not like wine left on its dregs. I don’t take God for granted; I will not turn God’s patience and kindness into fallacious self-amusement.
13 My wealth is secure in Christ, my house stands. I build houses and live in them; I plant vineyards and drink the wine.
14 Every day for the sinner, one day for the Lord! The great day of the Lord is sure and fast approaching; but while they grope in misery, I shall be rejoicing on the Lord’s side…
