The Ten Commandments

(Exo. 20: 3-17)

  •  1 You shall have no other gods before me.
  •  2   You shall not make unto yourself any graven image.
  •  3   You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
  •  4   Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  •  5   Honor your father and your mother.
  •  6   You shall not kill.
  •  7   You shall not commit adultery.
  •  8   You shall not steal.
  •  9   You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  • 10   You shall not covet your neighbor’s properties.

  •  3   I have no other gods before you.
  •  4   I don’t make for myself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
  •  5   I don’t bow the knee except onto you alone whom I worship; for you, the LORD my God, are a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate you,
  •  6   but showing love to a thousand (generations) of those who love you and keep your commandments.
  •  7   I don’t misuse the name of the LORD my God, for you the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses your name.
  • 12   I honor my father and my mother; therefore, I shall live long in the land of the Living.
  • 13   I don’t murder.
  • 14   I don’t commit adultery.
  • 15   I don’t steal.
  • 16   I don’t give false testimony against my neighbor.17 I don’t covet my neighbor’s house. I don’t covet my neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to my neighbor
